Paul Speaks!

Coach Paul Word or Phrase

English Translation
"I'm not speaking Chinese!"              "I do not understand why you are not listening to me and doing what I ask!"
"Be the rock, do not be a Mary Lou.""Please try as hard as possible to do the best you can."
"Southern English"This is Paul's name of the English that all non-Paul people from Texas speak.
"You're not 007!""Please move to a location where your teammate can see you and pass you the ball."
"wull" and "gare-eg"Means "wall" and "garage", as in "You're telling me your house has no wulls and no gare-eg?"  (Asked of a player and she correctly responded, "no".)
"Your parents don't know what they are talking about.  Don't listen to their senseless babble."  (and similar phrases)"Although your parents are wonderful people and care deeply for each of you, I would really appreciate it if you would just listen to my coaching and not theirs."
"You look like a bunch of gypsies!""You seem to be a little disorganized.  Maybe you should remember your coaching and play your positions a little better."
"Unlucky""Good play but a bad result."
"Tanks""Thanks"
"Turdy tree and a turd""Thirty-three and a third"  (thanks to the 92 girls for this one)
"It's all good.""I'm officially done talking with you.  Goodbye."
"witchu""with you"
"wakey wakey""I would appreciate it if you ladies would please wake up and pay attention to your surroundings!"
"tot""thought"
"Good Luk""Good Luck", which oddly means "Gee Whiz"  As in, "Good Luk Mary Lou!  You need a better first touch than that!"
"Good Luk"Means "Good Look" as in, "Rob, I can't believe you thought I said Good Luk when I said Good Luk. (see above)"
"Oh you hit that with your handbag, ditcha!?""That ball didn't go very far when you kicked it.  Maybe you should re-double your efforts and try again?"  Paul will also use "purse" for "handbag".
"ditcha""didn't you"
"mutton head"Chris (Kelsey's brother) - note that this is probably the nicest thing ever said to him!
"dodgy""Close" or "Suspect" as in when Paul checks the air in soccer balls, "Dodgy Mary Lou".  Means you better pump it up for next time.
"Mary Lou"The most likely name Paul uses to illustrate a player that is not doing as well as she should.  As in, "Don't be a Mary Lou!"
"blind camel"Similar to "Mary Lou" but a little more negative.  As in, "A blind camel could do better than that."
"lawnmower cutting grass"As in, "Get some height ladies, you look like a lawnmower cutting grass!".  Means your feet are dragging when you should be jumping.
"Get right on her socks!""I would appreciate it if you could mark that player a little closer than you are currently doing."
"Chicken Wang"Paul's Irish Texan accent for "Chicken Wing".  The new nickname for Emily.
"Plonker"We're not really sure on this one.  Paul used it to refer to a referee that was not having a real good game.  We assume it is a bad thing.
"Torch"Flashlight
"Tiddles"Means "tickles".  As in, "If you are going to clear it then you need a big kick and not those tiddles that you were doing."

From the 96' Girls Gold:

"Me granny could have scored on those corner kicks.........No, I know me granny would have scored because she couldn't move out of the way in her wheel chair and the ball would have hit her and gone in the goal"

Someone please put a head on these balls that Cha Cha is floating across the mouth of the goal.

"Wide"

Oddly, this means someone who is "street smart".  Similar to "wise".

"Tree trees on da pat"

Means "Three trees on the path."

"Bum"

Bottom

"She's not Mia Hamm!"

"Maybe one of you three girls that are marking her should look for someone else to defend?"

"Wagon"

An SUV or a mini-van.  Basically any car larger than Paul's.  This includes the mini-Cooper and most scooters.

"Broom Hilda and Hitler"

Two people that team captains should NOT be like when dealing with the team.  Really, just good advice in any situation.
